Introduction

Silk is the queen of textile and the naturally produced animal fiber. As long as human desire for silk garments continues, the demand for sericulture activity remains. “Sericulture” means cultivation of silkworms, which finally produces silk.  The Department and ITDA Bhadrachalam is providing technical and financial support to the tribal farmers and grainures in the production of DFLs and Silk worm rearing in Tasar sector to provide income to tribal house holds in forest areas and also helping in enrichment of environment.  In Mulberry sector, assisting the farmers by providing newly evolved Bivoltine Hybrid races which will give high crop yield, so that the income of the farmers per unit area will be increased.
